The rise and fall of men and kingdom could be directly tied to how effective they controlled their weaknesses. The weaknesses in a man are those things that held him in bondage to the enticing influence of the flesh. The more he tries to escape, the more he is entangled.
The Biblical account of Samson underscored the damaging effects of uncontrolled weaknesses (Judges 16:4-21). Samson was a great man of valor.
He did a lot of exploit for the Lord and the people of Israel. He single-handedly destroyed thousands of the philistines. Virtually all the neighboring countries were afraid of his might and the glory of God in him. Samson looked unstoppable. The future looked bright and promising for him.
Unfortunately, all his dreams, zeal, and aspirations were cut short and doomed as a result of his uncontrolled weakness. Samson yielded repeatedly to the sins of sexual immorality and fell at the lap of Delilah (a modern day prostitute). As a result of Samson’s illicit and unbiblical affairs with Delilah, he lost the source of his power and the glory of God departed from him. Subsequently, Samson was captured by his enemies; his eyes were plucked out and he eventually died with his enemies. Very sad!!
Dearly beloved, what are those weaknesses in your life that seem uncontrollable? Is it your inordinate sexual affections towards multifarious partners, like Samson? Is it your addictive habit of smoking, drinking, clubbing, and gambling? Is it lying, lust, impatience, anger, and rudeness? What are those uncontrolled weaknesses in your life? Is it jealousy, envy, gossiping, backbiting, and hatred?
Irrespective of the position you hold in the church or secular world, if you are ravaged and dominated by certain uncontrolled weaknesses; remember Samson. Samson probably thought that as long as he is a child of God nothing can happen to him, even while living in sin.
Herein lies a strong warning to the preachers of “eternal security” who holds the fake doctrine of “once saved forever saved.” No!! There is nothing like that. If you live in perpetual disobedience to God even when you claimed to have been saved, you will receive the consequences. The scripture says “Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die” (Ezekiel 18:4).
“The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened” (Prov 10:27). “In the way of righteousness there is life, and in its pathway there is no death” (Prov 12:28). “Evil pursues sinners” (Prov 13:21). “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death” (Prov 14:27). “Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, and he who hates correction will die” (Prov 15:10). “He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow” (Prov 22:8).
For the believer, as well as for the unbeliever, sin never pays. Remember, that your eternal destiny would be determined by how well you relinquish those seemingly uncontrolled weaknesses into the eternal bosom of Jesus Christ. When you are tempted to yield to those weaknesses, remember Samson!
Blessed are your eyes for reading this message. Please, don’t let this mess
pray for me that night the wife leaves me
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
After having just completed the trial of my life, which took every breath and waking moment of my day for about 3 years. It seemed I was able to focus on nothing else. Gods’ children are use to being at liberty, not in bondage or being assaulted, but the roaring lion is stalking Gods children.
I know this article is about besetting sins. I pray you aren’t dealing with that but if you are, remember God is coming back for a bride without spot or blemish. He didn’t mean with the word grace that we should continue in sin because we became a Christian! We are to depart from sin, asking the Holy Ghost for help from the Father.
Don’t look the other way as if it is nothing because then we become as hypocrites. Should we bother to go to church if we aren’t going to make the effort? I am not speaking to those who are trying and yet have not fully overcome. The Lord knows the heart of every man and if he is sincere. Only by him can we gain control of our life. He says we have not because we ask not.
I would like to say that in reading this; we should all be mindful of the Lord and his love. If we remember his love, it will help those who are overcoming not to give up. Much of the church is battling and in war at this very moment.
Every member of our Church is at war with the enemy, Gods children are being beaten down in finances, family relationships of unsaved loved ones and it goes on and on. The enemy usually knows our weak spot. He maybe has pulled out all stops but God is coming and he will only tolerate so much regarding his children being beat.
So if you are being beat examine yourself, if we don’t and there is sin and God comes tomorrow will you be lost?
It helps to be reminded that God only chastises those that he loves. The roaring lion will soon be drawing his last breath. God is either preparing us to go home, without spot or blemish or he is preparing us to take our stand that we fail not.
When we remember that we are loved, and we love back in return we have desire to do what the other one in our relationship wants for us. Jesus said if we would pray and petition heaven to the Father using his name that he will be there. At these times the enemy tries to tell you; you aren’t good enough. He will try to tell you, you might as well give up it is hopeless God isn’t coming. He will try to get you to believe that the Lord doesn’t love you. I am here to tell you he is a liar, God called him the Father of all lies!
But the word also says we will be tested! Jesus said God hasn’t given the enemy the right to test us. Job was tested and Peter was tested and they were men of God, righteous.
I would also like to remind those in a trial the Old Testament says; the righteous suffer much.
So if God isn’t responding right away to an issue, and then another issue starts. You are more then likely going through a trial. Remind yourself how much the Lord loves you.
You are a chosen people, peculiar (precious is the true meaning) of a royal priesthood are but a few words he used to describe you.
Jesus died for our sins and had never sinned; he hung on a cross between two thieves and all the while saving the one thief.
The Lord has a desire that none miss heaven but fear the Lord and work out your salvation. He condemned Angels who did wrong and placed some already in the abyss. Keep reminding yourself our race is almost over, bombarding heaven with prayers and petitions doesn’t hurt.
Getting up in the middle of the night and seeking the Lord is some of the best relationship building medicine you will ever get. Remember he is jealous over us, if you put others and things before him. You are guilty of witchcraft. Idolatry is mentioned in the Bible over 200 times. Don’t put your children, wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend or business before the Lord. He has to come first.
Remember the word says 1 person praying puts 1000 to flight, two people praying puts 10,000 to flight. The more people the greater the power. Showing the enemy our strength to overcoming, by binding together in prayer is more important now then ever.
If anyone is need of a prayer partner or someone to help pray to shake loose of besetting sin or overcoming the enemy. Please give the web master your email address and I will contact you. Brothers and Sisters from this site helped pray for me, the word says freely given, freely give.
