Reliance on physical objective such as ‘holy’ water, candles, oil etc. will not only hinder but also destroy your miracle, whether oil is used or not, focus on God’s word, not the physical symbols which can be limited. Another closely related hindrance to miracles is desire for special attention.
In 2King 5:11-13, Naaman expected Elisha to come out and specially attend to him, after all, he was a general in the Syrian army. There are some people who, whenever they are sick and are attended to by the health practitioner, never believe they are well until they are given some pills to swallow, or are injected. It does not matter even if they were given chalk to swallow or water in a syringe, they will being to feel well. This is purely psychological. When dealing with such patients, even when the fellow is OK, the doctor must give them some prescription.
Spiritually, those who always desire to be specially treated fall into that class. Some Christians will not believe that their problems have been solved until after several hours or days of fasting and prayer. For some, until hands are laid on them, God has not answered. That was part of Naaman’s expectations. For others, even when hands are laid on them, they do not have anything has happened until they fall under the anointing.
Those operating at that level are manifesting signs of spiritual childhood. If you have been at that level, you do not have to remain there. Some people attend the monthly Holy Ghost service and after all the powerful prayers, they fail to believe that God has answered until hands are laid on them.
The Lord wants you to grow up in faith. If the word was enough for the centurion in Matthew 8, the word should be enough for you. Release your faith! Romans1:17 says faith is the currency by which we live.
Without it, you will displease God (Heb 11:6). Believe the word of God spoken into your life. Believe God’s promises in the Bible. Stand on them and confess them. Expect to see them manifesting in your situation and it shall be so. Are you delaying your miracle by expecting some special treatment to precede your blessing?
