  1. I’m on my 4th day of a fast. I need guidance in a really difficult situation, but I just can’t seem to concentrate on prayer. It’s not a problem physically, but there are so many distractions!

Hmm. Just answered my own question before I even asked it. Eliminate distractions. Lock the door; keep the computer, tv, and phone off.

  2. I have had a similar issue. Except it isn’t just distrations, my mind wonders. I don’t mean for it to happen but things pop into my mind, or I become completely exhausted and unable to stay awake, I have even started to feel nauseous or like passing out during prayer.
Any suggestions? I feel it is important for me to keep praying and I normally do continue, occasionally I will wait a little while and then revisit it.
I feel like prayer is such a challenge for me. I know God hears me and I see/feel results, I just have such a hard time staying on task. Any guidance or suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

  3. i thought one reason for fasting and prayer was supposed to help things we struggle with, there are hinderances and things we need to avoid, definitely like tv sometimes, comp, negative ppl, i mean we obviously cant fast and pray and sin, we shouldnt be walkin in sin anyway, but we cant do everything perfect, we are still gonna make mistakes during a fast, but when we do, even if we make a mistake, not willingly walk in sin, it should help break those strongholds, when we fast we are denying our flesh and making our spirit man stronger, and it seems as if everytime Jesus fasted, thats when he was tempted, after a fast, i could be wrong about that, but seems like it, and if we had it all together during a fast, and everything we do was gonna be perfect, then we wouldnt need to go on one to begin with,

  4. I used to think that by reading Gods word alone would mould me to be a perfect christian and a strong saint but it was until God revealed to me the power of prayers that I became prayerful and this have surelyn made me grow up even in ministry.

  7. @ Joy Just to encourage you and not discourage you, God answers prayer not grant wish, hes not a jeannie in a bottle. as mentioned above there are hindrances to prayer, but if you have the right motive and seek God for his guidance in situations he will answer. its not easy, but the more you fast, if you want to be closer to God, the more you will lose the desires you once had for certain things, not necessarily all bad things, just an example in my life. i learn more about fasting each time i do, in the beginning i would not eat, but continue to watch certain shows that were not what one would consider bad, like on tv land. but the more i fasted, i lost desire to even watch those shows, now i cant get into them if i tried. dont be alarmed when he also shows you what changes need to be done on your end in your life. i was just fasting yesterday, it wasnt a 10 day fast, as i have done 7 in the past, but i continued to watch tv, do whatever else i wanted to do, just try to read bible and abstain from eating. but this time, last night i cant remember what scripture i think isiiah 58 where it said behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure and exact all your labours, from what i got out of that was i needed to the best of my abiity spend as much time praising him, and listening to his word which continues to play on my dvd on tv daily, read the bible, listen to Godly preachers, not just preachers who make you feel good. but again the more you do it, the more you learn about fasting, so he does look at our heart because i began fasting when i was about to have a nervous breakdown, and it helped, i got stronger, then i began to give up more sin, as i was backslidden, it took time and im still working on it, but it will make you want to give up sin and focus more on him than on your problems, as He said, he will keep them in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him. i have a lot going on, and dont know where i will be in next 2-3 months, but i have got to keep my mind on him, to keep from feeling like im going to lose mind again. you be encouraged, do what God leads you to do, whether its a 10 day fast, or 6 hours, sometimes 6 hours is harder than 2 days. just remember, its not the length of time, its your motive, and going to him with a pure heart,

  8. Prayer and Fasting is very powerful is specially when you have a right motive of coming before the Lord.
Only God can change us and in prayer it will help to change us,to become a better person that God wants us to be.

  9. Everytime l start fasting l receive bad news. The other time l was fasting l received a letter of termination of a contract from a client. This broke my heart but l did not break my fast. The last straw was when l started my seven day fasting, thieves broke into my car and stole my last cash which l had withdrawn from the bank. The question is why is that when l start on my fasting something bad happens to me and try to distract me from my mission of fasting.

  10. Thank you for the article.I normally decide to fast but temptations make me postpone it,I think you have helped me much.
